I have a Model 1895 lever action, serial number B007XXX. I'm trying to determine when It was made. The barrel is marked as a 'Model 1895' (no 'S'). The rifle has a straight stock, not a pistol grip, and is not checkered. I bought it used in 1983.1949 F

I've read on other posts in here that the 'B' either indicates the year of manufacture, or that it has Ballard rifling. Anouther post stated that subtracting the first two digits fo the serial number from 100 gave the year of manufacture, but that makes no sense with this number.
Thanks for any help,
Mike
